Several years ago I decided to switch to organic shampoo. I made this decision when someone told me that there are harsh chemicals being put inside every brand of shampoo I used. I then read an article that went on to explain that the same chemicals used in dishwasher detergent, are used in our shampoos. That got my attention!

So when reading the ingredients label on your shampoo bottle, you will want to look for “sodium laureth sulfate”. Believe it or not, these kinds of chemicals are even in common health products such as toothpaste. You will notice “sodium laureth sulfate” is listed as one of the first two ingredients of almost any regular shampoo bottle you can buy.

To test my theory, I recently was at my local Wal-Mart and every single bottle of shampoo I looked at contained the harsh chemical. So believe me when I tell you, there is no better time than now to switch to an organic shampoo.

Over the years I have used a variety of these shampoo types and the only problems I have found are price and many brands are hard to find. For many brands you have to find a specialty store or order them online, which is a minor inconvenience in my opinion.

However, I keep coming back to my favorite two brands: Jason and Giovanni. The main reason I buy these two brands is that they are free of laurel/laureth sulfate chemicals. Beware that some organic shampoo companies claim their product is “all natural”, but this isn’t always the case. So be sure to always read the labels. With that said, there are dozens of real natural shampoo brands out there to choose from.

When you consider the kind of harmful chemicals being used in our regular shampoos, it is more than worth the effort to find the right organic shampoo for your hair. Since I have found the brands I like, I usually order two or three at a time. The bottles usually last me 5-6 months, and in general I only have to have my shampoo shipped no more than twice a year.

If you are on the fence about switching to organic shampoo, I suggest just trying one bottle to see if you like it. In the end, it will be the best decision you ever made for your hair!

Many manufacturers of synthetic hair dye and hair coloring refute the claims of natural product manufacturers that they can actually make organic hair dye. While there are natural hair dye products on the market, many feel that they do not work as well as synthetic versions at coloring the hair. Organic hair dye uses things like vegetable dyes and henna to give the hair the colors that customers want. However, the color is not as lasting as with the synthetic dyes.

For a lot of people however, using a natural hair dye will still serve a better purpose than using a synthetic-based one because there are none of the harmful chemical ingredients included in it. The ingredients that you need to avoid in a hair color include ammonia, peroxide, lead and even coal tar. Using an organic hair dye will definitely help you to avoid those ingredients.

If you want true organic hair dyes, the John Masters Studios in New York provide excellent products which are ammonia free and dye-free, as well as totally organic. If you are not going to New York any time soon, then you can try out any of the following organic hair dye products available on the market:

Herbatint (Herbatint Herbal Hair Color Gel To Cover Gray Hair No Ammonia Italian – $18.00)

Light Mountain (Light Mountain Natural Hair Color & Conditioner, Red, 4 oz (113 g) (Pack of 3) – $28.97)

Surya Henna (Surya Henna Dark Brown Cream 70 ML 2.31 Ounces – $11.99)

Naturcolor (Naturtint Permanent Light Chestnut Brown 5N 2 Ounces – $17.99)

Rainbow Henna

Morrocco Method Simply Pure Henna

Color Me Naturally by Aubrey (Aubrey Organics Color Me Natural, 100% Natural Permanent Hair Color, Dark Brown, 4 oz (115 g) by ClubNatural – $27.25)

Organic hair dye will work for a lot of people who want to avoid the chemical ingredients in conventional hair dues. While the lasting power may not be as great, you will definitely be protecting your hair, scalp and body even if you have to dye more frequently than with synthetic-based products.

One of the best ways to ensure your hair is getting the nutrients and benefits it needs is to use natural hair treatment. Natural hair treatment is usually made up of one hundred percent natural plants and other products. They almost always eliminate the use of synthetic or chemical-based products that can have very harmful effects on the environment, not to mention your hair and scalp.

Natural hair treatments can come in the form of shampoos and conditioner, as well as deep treatments and hair sprays. Here is a sampling of hair treatment products that the manufacturers have made from natural ingredients:

MACADAMIA OIL by Macadamia Natural Oil: HEALING OIL TREATMENT 4.2 OZ – $36.00

KERATIN Complex Natural Keratin Smoothing Treatment 8 oz – $220.00

JASON Pure Natural & Organic, Thin-To-Thick Conditioner – 8 fl oz – $9.25

Jojoba Hair Oil – Ultra-Moisturizing 100% Natural Hair and Scalp Treatment 4 oz – $21.49

As you can see from that list, there are heating oil treatments, thickening conditioners as well as moisturizing scalp treatments to keep the suppleness of your hair and to prevent flaking and dandruff.

The prices for natural hair treatment products will vary depending on the brand as well as the purpose of the product. Nonetheless, you are bound to get better results from the natural products than products that contain harmful surfactant and other elements known to have very damaging effects on humans and the environment at large.

A natural hair treatment is definitely something you should add to your collection of hair care products because you will give your hair more of a chance to succeed and grow healthily than if you use a synthetic based product. Once you maintain focus on healthy living, you will be much better off and so will everyone around you!

Are you interested in relaxing your hair but are concerned about the chemicals in a relaxer damaging it? Well, you will be happy to know that you can get a natural hair relaxer on the market that does what a chemical-based relaxer does but without the negative side-effects and damaging effects on your hair.

Most natural hair relaxer products serve the purpose of taming frizzy hair and defining the curls and waves so it does not look as bulky and out of control. The relaxing process is accomplished without the use of harmful harsh chemicals. As a result, you will find that using a natural hair relaxer does not cause hair breakage or hair loss, nor will you experience burning of the scalp.

Apart from taking good care of your hair and helping it to remain healthy, natural hair relaxers are also environmentally friendly because they do not use any ingredients that could be harmful to the environment and the Earth’s inhabitants.

If you use any of the following natural or organic hair relaxers, you will not have to worry about your hair being over processed and thereby subject to damage:

Isoplus Olive Oil Natural Remedy Relaxer Regular 14.4 oz. – $6.49

Xenna Curlaway Chemical Free Relaxer – $19.99

TCB Naturals No-Lye Relaxer Kit, Coarse (Pack of 4) – $20.44

ALL WAYS Natural No Lye Conditioning Crème Relaxer System Super Strength – $16.95

Give a natural hair relaxer a try if you want to be able to manage your hair better, have it looking better and still maintain its healthiness without the risk of damaging it due to chemicals found in some relaxer products. There really is no better way to treat your hair than with products free of chemicals and harsh additives, and that even applies to hair relaxer products.

Manufacturers of hair care products have started to become concerned about the future of their products because there is a lot of evidence to indicate some of the ingredients used in their most popular products are not exactly safe for human use. There are many people who are now using organic hair products as opposed to standard chemical based ones because of the research that is out there indicating the damage that certain ingredients can do.

Conventional hair care products usually contain synthetic chemicals, silicones, petroleum based polymers and colorants and these products generally irritate the scalp of users and even lead to loss of hair. Nobody using hair care products would want to have to deal with those negative side effects!

With organic hair products, you will find that only ingredients are natural ingredients from plants and other natural sources. And even though the ingredients are natural, they are still very effective at balancing and moisturizing the hair without the added negative side-effect of damaging your scalp and locks.

If you are leaning more towards using organic hair products, here is a short list of some items that you can use for cleaning and treating your hair:

Modern Organic Products Leave-in Conditioner 6.76 fl oz (200 ml) – $14.00

Derm Organics Masque – Intensive Hair Repair (8 oz) – $16.00

Aubrey Organics – B5 Design Gel, 8 fl oz gel – $10.90

ALTERNA HEMP with Organics Styling Mud 2 oz (50 g) – $17.50

John Masters Organics Hair Pomade 2 fl oz (57 g) – $20.00

Organic hair products are fast taking over the market and replacing synthetic-based products for many consumers. If you are interested in taking care of your hair while also preserving and taking care of your health, then you should try using organic hair products.

Today, many people are taking use of personal care products very seriously. There are a lot of people who refuse to use shampoos with harmful chemicals and as such they only use SLS free shampoo. SLS actually stands for sodium lauryl sulphate, and is a surfactant used in many cleaning and hygiene products. Shampoo is just one of those products that use SLS and many people avoid shampoos using the ingredient once they find out what other products use it!

SLS is a very effective surfactant that works at removing stains and residual buildup. The main reason a lot of people have stopped using shampoos with this ingredient is that it is also used in industrial cleaning products like carwash soap and engine degreasers. Although it is used in lower concentrations in shampoos and other products like toothpaste, people anticipate a negative effect from using any product with this harsh chemical.

Although many believe that SLS can lead to cancer, there is no scientific research or evidence to show that this ingredient is truly carcinogenic. This is at least not the case when it is applied to the skin or consumed in small quantities. However, it has been proven to irritate the skin on the face once you are exposed to it for more than an hour.

If you are still unsure about whether or not SLS is a safe ingredient in shampoos, you can just eliminate using it all together and choose from the following SLS-free shampoo products:

Nurture My Body Organic Volumizing Shampoo SLS Free for Fine, Limp Hair – $30.96

John Masters Honey & Hibiscus Hair Reconstructing Shampoo – $26.00

Henna Aloe Vera Shampoo – $8.98

Max Green Alchemy Scalp Rescue Shampoo – $18.00

Nature’s Gate Organic Shampoo Grapefruit and Wild Ginger 12 Ounces – $7.99

With using these products, you will not have to worry about whether or not you are using something that is safe for your hair and skin. Using SLS-free shampoos will serve the purpose of cleaning and protecting your hair without the risk of harm from chemical ingredients.

In today’s day and age, people are more focused on natural products to care for their hair and their body overall. In the case of hair, many people use a natural hair gel to serve the same function as a synthetically made hair gel. A natural hair gel is a product that is basically formulated using almost 100% natural ingredients and in some cases 100% natural ingredients.

Because of its natural and beneficial ingredients, a natural hair gel does not need the assistance of additives to nourish their hair. While these natural products might use artificial elements or ingredients to help preserve the product, there are usually no chemically based ingredients in them. In such cases, one would consider that product to contain almost 100% natural ingredients.

You can visit a vitamin store or health food store to find natural hair care products, including gels. Products like natural shampoos, conditioners and hair sprays work well with an accompanying natural hair gel that is used for styling.

Take a look at the following products that are listed as natural hair gels used for styling:

Burt’s Bees Men’s Hair Gel 4 fl oz 3 oz (85 g) – $7.99

Fairy Tales Rosemary Repel Styling Gel 8 fl oz (236 ml) – $12.59

Max Green Alchemy Organic Scalp Rescue Styling Gel – $15.00

ABBA by ABBA Pure & Natural Hair Care: VOLUMIZING GEL 6.76 OZ – $16.76

You definitely cannot go wrong if you use a natural hair gel to style your hair as opposed to one that is based with synthetic products. Not only will your hair receive the benefits from the natural products, but it will be safe from the negative effects of synthetic ingredients. The more natural products you use in your hair, the healthier it will remain for a long period of time.

If you are having a hard time taking care of your hair, then you might need to consider using hair relaxing products to make it much easier for you. A hair relaxer is a type of cream that is used by people with curly or hard to manage hair to make it less curly and easier to style. Most hair relaxing creams usually have a strong alkaline base, while others use an ammonium base.

If straightening your hair usually means using pressing irons or hot combs, relaxing your hair would eliminate the need for overuse of those items. It is more or less a permanent method of straightening your hair that makes styling easier overall. There are also women who relax their hair as a means of making it thinner and easier to manage. The texture is often much softer when it is relaxed once it is cared properly after the processing is completed.

In terms of doing of relaxing hair, it is usually put in for a specified length of time after which it is rinsed out and a neutralizing shampoo applied. For styling, a moisturizing hair conditioner can be applied after shampooing to ensure the hair is not stripped of all its moisture.

Here are some popular hair relaxing products on the market that you can try out in your own hair:

Phyto PhytoSpecific Phytorelaxer Index 2 – Normal, Thick, Coarse Hair – $60.00

Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Built-In Protection No Lye Relaxer Normal – $9.79

Mizani Butter Blen Medium /Normal Relaxer 30 Oz – $27.00

Dr. Miracle’s No Lye Relaxer Kit – $17.50

Revlon Conditioning Creme Relaxer – $12.75

Using hair relaxing products is a perfect way to improve manageability of your hair if that is the challenge you are having. Just remember to give it the kind of care it needs so the chemicals in the relaxer do not eat away at your hair over time.

While some people prefer to put highlights in their hair, others would rather take the route of using hair lowlights. Basically, hair lowlights do the opposite to hair highlights. With lowlights, your hair is darkened and the tone is deepened, while with highlights, your hair is lightened and brightened.

People who highlight their hair usually choose colors like gold tones as well as blonde tones to get the brightness they want. On the flipside, people who go for hair color lowlights often choose reds and auburn shades. These darker colors will tone down the excitement and brightness of light colored hair.

Lowlights can be used with basically any hair type and hair style to add a certain kind warmth to the hair. Generally, people who have just turned their hair to blonde or platinum looking tones can choose lowlights to reduce the brightness of the hair. What is recommended however for the most natural looking lowlight is to never go more than three shades darker than your root color. Remember you want it to look as realistic and natural as possible and going darker than your roots really would defeat the purpose.

What happens with hair lowlights that also happens with highlights is that they can become dull over time. Each time you wash your hair, you contribute to your lowlights becoming dull. The best bet to prevent this from happening too quickly is to use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Also, you can avoid exposing you hair to too much sun damage.

The Goldwell Colorance Lowlights Re-Contrast Color product is one of those on the market that provides low lighting options for customers and it is generally available for just under $15.

If you are interested in hair color lowlights, just follow the basic advice given here and you will be able to get an attractive looking hair coloring job done.
